Rescue Course
Here is where the real challenge of diving begins....

What do you do about a distressed, drowning, panicked, injured, or unconscious diver? Could you recognise the signs they would exhibit? Find out by doing a Rescue Course with Down Under Dive. Rescue Courses are run over 5 days. There is a pool and theory component of 2 days and a 3 day liveaboard boat trip during which anything could happen... at any time... and your candidate rescue divers will be expected to manage the situation.

A further 2 dives are required and normally they involve either a Multi-level Dive, Search and Recovery Dive or an Underwater Naturalist Dive. There is also time between training dives for recreation dives at our range of superb outer reef dive sites.

(up to 10 dives total during a three day advanced course). There is a list of scenarios which must be worked through and skills which must be mastered leading up to a demonstration quality single-handed surfacing of an unconscious diver followed by in-water resuscitation. Once you have mastered the rescue scenario you can deal with pretty well anything which is precisely the aim of the course. It will be both physically and mentally challenging, but you will enjoy every minute of it!!! Before starting the course you must have Advanced Open Water certification. You should also have a current resuscitation or CPR certificate. If you do not have one, this can be arranged . After the Rescue Course, you may like to consider enrolling in our Dive Controller/Divemaster Course.
